Sixty Up

Shrewsbury Town Park - 5th April

Janet & I went to Shrewsbury to do the town park 5k. It was a very cold morning, but we soon warmed up and met some new friends. Janet finished in 37:32 and I finished in 37:34
Derby 10k  - 6th April

When my number and map of the different car parks arrived the map looked great.
We left Fieryfields at 6am and it was raining and windy and we arrived in plenty of time unfortunately the map was out of date so there was great fun trying to find a car park, however not one to give up I stop the car and cornered a marshal and asked him to explain "Oh sorry love that map is out of date."  The one way system stopped us getting any where however I managed to find a car park. As John was still in shock from getting up at 5am he didn't seem to notice how far we had to walk. 

This race was held at the Derby football stadium and so far the wet weather had held off. After a warm up and standing in our time zone with me right at the back, it was a chip time job.
 While running through the town of Derby, it was like running through a ghost town with very little support,the marshals lacked interest, no kilometre markings-it seemed odd passing runners. We finished in the Derby football stadium and were given a nice tea shirt and some water.By 10.30am it was all over. I was pleased with my time, a PB of  1:18. I was  4117th out of 5,000.  Not sure if I would do it again!
