This race is what it says, the Milford Murder is not an easy tasks as it's trice up to the top.
When the race started we were faced with a nasty hill to start with and I soon had to adjust my breathing, Over loose stones and deep gully we went, the Marshalls were very friendly and encouraging. I was well looked after by the back up lady called Joyce. On this type of race you do get to see the winners. There was not so many runners as in the Hanchurch one, maybe they did not like the nasty hill. I managed to get back just before dark. This race was a good challenge but I would love to do it again. I think my time was 1h.30m.
Chocolate Run 5k - 18th April
The weather was lovely warm sunshine, this race was held at Maldwyn Leisure centre in Newtown and is the first of a set of four races. Never believe any Marshall as they will tell you anything, you think I would have learned by now but according to the Marshall we were on a different route, no hills just around the industrial estate. Wrong, there was this big continuing hill that seemed to be going on and on. I thought after last night that I would take it steadily but I took one look and thought I'll get the better of you mate. Eventually we made our way down back to the finish. All the money taken today goes towards the young athletes which I think is a good idea.Time 39.07 and the pictures are of my friends in Newtown.
Air Products 10k - 20th April
It was a good job I read the race rules properly as I had got in my mind that it was 11.15 start but it was actually 10.15am. While we were waiting around the weather started to deteriorate and rain was in the air. It was lovely to meet Cherie and Lee Rudd, there were 327 entries with no entries on the day as it is a very popular race of two laps with some small hills and I do get to see the winners go by. After one lap the rain appeared set in but I seemed to miss it. I was well looked after by a young lady called Cara The marshals were brilliant and shouting "Oh you're back again", I was not too sure how my legs would be after the Milford Murder hilly and then the chocolate hill one ,but after the first lap I seemed ok.
I was very pleased with my PB from last year and still came in last. We had a bright orange T Shirt which reminds me of the company DynaRod . There was a bit of a mutter as mens over 70 got a prize but not the ladies, equal rights and all that stuff.
My time was 1:13:49 whilst Cherie Rudd finished in 55:30
