After fighting the traffic down the M6 and coming to a funny roundabout and taking the wrong exit we managed to find the Q3Academy. With the weather being nice and warm many extra turned up on the night. This was a multi terrain and very undulating two loop race and it was a bit of a challenge which I enjoyed and went on to finish it.
This little village is in Wilmslow and the money from the race went to the David Lewis Centre for disability. There was 279 entries and off we went down these country lanes with one small loop then two large loops. The so called lanes were more like main roads and I had to contend with big juggernauts plus big groups of very keen cyclists all over the roads however I was well looked after by Paul the back up on his bike who every now and again told me to jump in the hedge as they was a extra large lorry coming. As I was getting lapped I got lots of encouragement from fellow runners which was greatly appreciated. To me this race was a good challenge but I would think twice before doing it again as the traffic put me off a bit. I was last one in and you can see by the photos that nearly everybody had gone home. At the finish I was given two bottles of beer and some flapjacks. I was first over 70 but there was no prize even though they had given all the vets prizes out. Oh well that's life.
