Four Races in Five Days

Harper Scarper 5k - 3rd September

This race is the last in the Sexarathon and it was a lovely summer evening. I was lucky to win the o/70 overall prize, a nice  T Shirt which actually fits me very nicely for a change. The atmosphere was brilliant and my time was 37 minutes.

Telford Town Park 5k 6th September

A lovely morning to do a town parkrun and a catch on the latest news. My time was 38m

Lawley Fun Run 5k - 6th September

After doing the town park in the morning Janet and I said we would have a go and support the Lawley Running club,  money made from this race was to go to the Combat Stress for the our heroes. I was informed that it was a lovely nice run but what was to happen next was definitely a shock to the system. We started at the bottom of  a hill and it never ended - through a lovely park but more hills. Well I just got my head down and kept going, now somewhere Janet and I went astray because we were running through a wood and back on to a road nowhere  near the finish.  We could see our friend Al coming to meet us but he was in the bottom two fields away, so when we got to the first roundabout  I said we will turn right and we ran all the way downhill back to the Grazing Cow, only the wrong side to the finish we had a good laugh and we did 3.75 in about 50 minutes. The marshalls who were giving medals and goodie bags were surprised when we arrived from nowhere but I loved it and would do it again

Wolverhampton Banks 10k - 7th September

Janet and I arrived at Wolverhampton very early as we were not sure about the traffic.
This was the first time I have done the 10k and everything seemed to be well organised and
the weather was kind to us. We met many friends before the race before making our way down to the start and off we went. I was not too sure how I would feel after yesterday shock hills but when I started I thought I will  finish.  The route was very pleasant and I decided to stick  to my rhythm with head down and keep going. It was well marshalled and full of encouragement - once back in the park the atmosphere was brilliant and I came in feeling good.  Janet had a good run too. our times Kathy Ling  1h 25m 2nd over 65y, Janet Pugh 1h.24m  4th o/60. It was lovely medal and a good goodie bag
