I love this race and always look forward to it , each year is different according to the weather. Last year it was very dry, this year completely different very very muddy even the winners came in covered with mud. As it's a double lap the mud gets heavier but there is good support from the marshals and plenty of gnats to fight off. I managed to get nearly round the first lap when the winners passed me. The back up man named Martin was great, he fussed a bit when I was running through the mud but I kept telling him I am ok [he was like a mother hen ] and I got in before it was dark. A nice medal. I loved it and am hoping to do it next year my time was time 1h 30m
Strawberry 5 miles - 10th May
This is the third time we had entered this race and each time we have gone a different way finding ourselves going around many little lanes to find this little hamlet called Leigh Church by Uttoxeter When we arrived it was very quiet and there was very little going on. Janet and I were wondering if we had come on the wrong day. the weather was looking foul and revving towards a storm, the numbers were down and only 69 had entered. The race was delayed waiting for the police to let us start on the road, the marshals gathered us all and quickly rush to the road and off we went. This race is nothing but hills big and small one, at about two miles in the storm was on full so we faced strong winds against us but we

A great big policeman came up to me and said "I am going to have to arrest you on loitering with intent and hanging around too much on the road." I thought my luck was in then he gave me a box with a watch in. He looked at Janet and gave her one and said you're just as bad and then who should appear round the corner but Ken Richards laughing his head off. The cadet were quite mystified, it was a good fun as in this box was an alarm watch which lights up and make a terrible noise [panic button] we had a nice medals and some lovely strawberry's yummy yummy. Janet and I both finished in 1 hour and 2 minutes.

Market Drayton 10k - 11th May
Once I had dried my clothes and trainers out I was ready for Market Drayton 10k.
I was not too sure how my legs would be after Saturday's run. It had a great atmosphere and I really enjoyed taking it taking it very steady and thanks to the club members who waited for me. I was pleased with my time. The gingerbread man was lovely with my last drop of bubbly. I finished in 1 hour and 21 minutes.
