Last weekend saw Kathy complete another two running events to reach 45 events since her 70th birthday at the end of September last year. Telford parkrun - 8th February

Kathy made another appearance at the Telford Town parkrun on Saturday where she recorded a finishing time of 38 minutes and fifteen seconds. The days of seeing Kathy cross the line last seem to have long gone this week she finished ahead of 18 runners. She is the current record holder for Telford parkrun in the female 70-75 age category, and is an inspiration for many.

Nick Beer 10k - 9th February

Although I had checked the weather, I was still keen to go to Llandudno, so I packed the sou'wester etc and we arrived to very windy weather but the sun was trying to come out.

The race started on time with 596 entries, as we set off making our way up the Great Orme the wind was against us. I managed to pass one or two runner who after 1/2m gave up so I settled down in my rhythm when I was grabbed by one of the marshals who informed me that he had  been looking for me since last year causing me to stop.  After a quick chat I had a job getting going again then there were 2 miles upwards where  I faced a load of empty water cups which are quite sharp. It was quite a fight against the strong wind but once I reach the top I thought I'd be ok running down but the wind  was still against me and then I came face to face with some lovely white fluffy goats who took one look at me and took off..

At about 5k you are chip timed, the marshals were brilliant and there were plenty of them all doing a great job. When I ran down the West side it was another world with the sunshine out making it a fantastic view then back along the front which always seems a long way and again the wind was against me. It was nice to see members from Lawley Running Club .I had a nice china mug at the end and  my time was 1:28 which I was very pleased with considering the weather. I still loved it and would do it again.
